Introduction

It is young people who drive society forward. To help their personal, educational and professional growth, at "la Caixa" Foundation we support their initiatives so that what they offer today can help build a better future.

Master grants in Spain, a boost for talent

At "la Caixa" Foundation we believe in the importance of training to boost the country's development. In 2005, we announced our first grant awards for Master degrees in Spain in order to respond to the new positioning of Spanish universities resulting from the implementation of the European Higher Education Area.

These grants are addressed to students from any discipline wishing to complete their studies by taking an official Master's degree at a Spanish university.

Each grant covers the total amount required for matriculation, travel expenses and allowances for up to a maximum of 24 months. These are mobility grants for students taking the Master's degree outside the autonomous community in which they reside. Since 2005, we have awarded 588 grants.

Leaders in creating a better society

At "la Caixa" Foundation we encourage non-profit organisations to hire people under the age of 29 years as we believe that young people's role is vital in building a better tomorrow. By doing so we are encouraging the development of social initiatives through non-profit organisations that help to improve the quality of life of the people who most need it.

International grants, a future without limits

Increasing value is being assigned to academic mobility in a student's progress. "la Caixa" grants for postgraduate studies abroad help researchers and professionals to train at the world's best academic centres. Harvard, the MIT, Berkeley, Columbia, Berlin's Humboldt University, Cambridge, the London School of Economics, Montreal, the Sorbonne, the China Europe International Business School and the Indian School of Business are some of the higher education centres from which "la Caixa" scholarship holders have graduated.

"la Caixa" grants are designed to reward academic excellence and are considered to be among the world's best, both because of the diversity of disciplines they cover and of the services they offer students. Since 2005, we have awarded 2,387 grants.

Grants are currently awarded each year for postgraduate studies in the United States, Canada, China, India, Germany, France, Great Britain and other European countries. Grants cover the full cost of matriculation, travel expenses and monthly allowances that can be extended up to 24 months.

Access to housing, closer

One of the main concerns of young people is to become independent. To help get them started, "la Caixa" Foundation promotes the construction of rented housing at affordable prices.

Let's talk about drugs, to be more critical and responsible

Drugs are a feature of the reality surrounding many young people, as adolescence is the time they first come into contact with them. "la Caixa" Foundation, fully aware that the best way to prevent the consumption of drugs is to provide objective and scientific information about their effects on the brain, health and behaviour, runs the "Hablemos de drogas" (Let's talk about drugs) programme. Our web page, the travelling exhibition, educational materials and the free telephone helpline 900 22 22 29, offer all the information on the consequences of drug consumption, both for our own health and for society at large.
