Introduction
Nature offers us a unique spectacle. Being able to marvel at its outstanding beauty and watch the growth of its forests, its valleys, its flora and fauna, and enjoy the wealth of rivers, lakes and seas is up to us. With a view to raising people's awareness on the need to learn to coexist by respecting and protecting the environment, at "la Caixa" Foundation we run different awareness initiatives and promote environmental protection measures.
Protecting the present and future of our nature areas
We run different measures to protect nature areas throughout Spain so that future generations may continue to enjoy the environment.
Our work includes projects associated with the restoration of deteriorated zones, the conservation of river areas, the recovery of wetlands, fire prevention, the improvement of habitats and natural landscapes, the preservation of biodiversity, research and respect for the environment.
We have carried out over 2,000 environmental conservation and recovery projects since the programme began.
PMA's
We have placed at the disposal of all the Autonomous Communities in Spain an Advanced Command Post vehicle, the world's most modern civil defence unit. This vehicle includes the latest technological advances for optimizing the management and coordination of emergency situations. Fitted with special equipment, it can centralize and fully manage the entire operation to tackle situations of enormous crisis, such as great catastrophes, or emergencies that require long-term interventions. In addition, the vehicle's mobility means it can bring the Operational Coordination Centres close to the site of the emergency, making it easier to manage the intervention.
